Types Of Amphetamines

There are several types of amphetamines which one can use, depending on what the use is, and what they are trying to treat. Some of the most common types of amphetamines on the market include: ephedrine, methamphetamines (desoxyn or detroamphetamine), adderall, concerta, ritalin, and benzadrine, are some of the most commonly known names of the drug which users are familiar with. There are also generic brands of these commonly used amphetamines, which many will consider if they are looking to save on the costs of the different types of amphetamines, or if they are using them illegally and get them from a place other than their doctor or a pharmacist's prescription.

What are amphetamines -
Amphetamines are synthetic compound drugs, and they contain a strong stimulant effect; the many types of amphetamines are most commonly prescribed and used in the US for treatment of attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHA), they can also be used to treat narcolepsy, and in some cases they will be approved for use as a weight loss medication, especially in cases where the patient is obese. Some of the types of amphetamines on the market might also be prescribed for treatment-resistant depression in certain individuals. For those in the armed forces (only, not pilots for commercial airlines), the use of the many types of amphetamines are also prescribed as a medication for anti fatigue, or other times when the pilots must be alert in a combat situation. Of course there are users of the different types of amphetamines which get their hands on the pills illegally, and use them for many of these treatment options, without a doctor's prescription.

Methods of action provided by the different types of amphetamines -
For those who are on amphetamines, they include four major types of action in the body, in order to produce the effects which the prescription is supposed to produce on the user's body. Dopamine, noradrenalin, and serotonin (all which are neurotransmitters) are released from their specified nerve terminals in the body. The different types of amphetamines will work by taking direct action on these neurotransmitters which are released. The amphetamines are then absorbed in the small intestine, and will work on the body for a period of 1 to up to 5 hours after it is ingested. There are different effects which the medication can have on the body, but these are going to be different depending on the types of amphetamines taken by the user, as well as the dose which was taken by the user. Other variables which will play a role on how the types of amphetamines will affect the user include: their past use of other drugs, experience with the amphetamines they are taking, how the drug is taken, what the circumstances are surrounding the use, where it was taken, the emotional as well as psychological mood the user is in, and (as with all other types of drugs - illegal or prescription), the types of amphetamines will react differently on the user's body if other drugs or alcohol are involved as well.

The dangers of the different types of amphetamines -
If the user begins to gain tolerance to the different types of amphetamines they are on, they must speak with their physician right away. Not only will this make the user feel as if they need (physically and mentally) the amphetamines, but they are also going to grow a reliance on the medication. Therefore, speaking to your doctor about the different types of amphetamines, their effects, the dependence, and the possibility of lowering the amount the user is taking, in order to get it to the proper level. Those who have hypertension (even if it is mild) must also speak to their doctor about the dosage. If this is an issue, the dosage that is prescribed for the different types of amphetamines should be lower than with patients who do not have the condition. Users should also know that they are going to be limited in certain abilities and should not operate machinery or a vehicle for a certain time period after taking the medication.

Certain users of the different types of amphetamines are also going to experience a significant amount of elevation in plasma levels, especially if they are taking the medication in the evening. The use of the drugs might also interfere with the urinary tract, and the drug should not be prescribed for women who are pregnant. Due to the fact that tolerance develops extremely quickly to the many types of amphetamines, doctors must be wary of prescribing it to those with a history of addiction, or individuals who are on other medications or drugs which have the same type of chemical or ingredient makeup.

Side effects of the types of amphetamines -
The main and most commonly reported side effects include higher and rapid increase in blood pressure, over stimulations, insomnia, dizziness, dysphoria, headaches, restlessness, diarrhea, dry mouth, constipation, anorexia, and weight loss is also one of the main side effects which have been reported by users. Some users have also have side effects related to a change in the sex drive especially when on higher dosages of the medication.

Overdose when on the different types of amphetamines -
Due to the ability to become dependent and the fact that users can become tolerant to the different types of amphetamines very quickly, in the event of an overdose, one has to speak to their doctor immediately. Not only does this ensure they get the treatment they need, but depending on how much of an overdose it is, and how quickly it is reported, there are different treatment methods one will have available to them. So, rather than try any home remedies, in the event an overdose does take place, users who are on one of the different types of amphetamines must call emergency services immediately, to ensure the proper forms of treatment are turned to, in the shortest period of time, and to avoid the potential of the most serious complications occurring from an overdose of the drug.
